Teja-YEAH!

If the Sox and the Birds do not make the Tejada for Manny trade happen - and fast - I will lose my mind. There should have been an all points bulletin on Yawkey Way today. "Drop everything you thought was important and make this deal!" The KeepManny.com folks ought to change their website to "Keep Manny, But Only If You Can't Get Tejada.com"

I love Miguel. He is a class act. I've always thought so. He is one of the ONLY visiting players who (a) dresses to the nines to enter the park and (b) takes time to sign autographs for kids. When Palmeiro tried to use him as a scapegoat over the steroids issue last season, Miguel said nothing. He would be a baseball god in this city. If the deal goes down, the shirt manufacturers better get ready to work nights and weekends until Christmas because Tejada Red Sox jerseys will be the most coveted item under the tree. Or Hanukkah bush.

And don't think for one second that the Orioles aren't ready to bust with glee. If Ramirez goes to Baltimore, that fan base is going to swell.

This is a win-win for both sides, down to the dollars. For the love of all that's holy, please, PLEASE make this a reality. And then, my fellow Orioles fans, let's all kick back and watch Steinbrenner stew.

Brad thought it was a joke less than 24 hours ago when I suggested that the Red Sox get Miguel Tejada.

Be careful, though. The Orioles have no fan base left and are dismantling their team, just like the Marlins are and just like I suspected, when I read your preceeding post, the .... I better not say it.

Even if the Orioles are "dismantling, " they aren't going anywhere. In other words, they'll never be like the Expos. And what better way to kick start the whole sha-bang, than with super star slugger, Manny Ramirez? They would be insane not to do this deal. We could throw a consistent, but really inexpensive short stop (like Alex Cora) into the mix to make up it. So many options to get this thing done!

I'd love to see Manny playing in the Yard, but two big problems. He won't go, and Angelos won't pay him.

Wait a second. Maybe the reason the O's only trade so far was for a catcher, the only only position besides SS for which they have someone good, because they are going to throw the back-up catcher into the mix with the Sox as a replacement for Dougie. Can the guy catch a knuckleball? I can't even remember his name, and Brad isn't here today.

Actually, Manny WILL go. Evidently, it (what ever IT is) has gotten to the point now where Manny will play anywhere but here.

And the money won't be as much of a big deal if the Red Sox are willing to take on a big chunk of his contract.

Situations as perfect as this do not come along very often (meaning, being able to accomodate Manny in his request and a player of Tejada's caliber and worth asking for a trade, who plays a position that we just HAPPEN to be in the market for).

The only thing I see as a problem is if Miguel is bluffing. But, I doubt that he is. He seems pretty smart to me. He announced his intentions and aired his frustrations the evening that the Red Sox trade their full time SS.

I don't think catching a knuckleball is a gift that someone is born with. My guess is that it takes lots of work and practice in order to do it effectively. I think that Wake's catcher will be Jason, and Tito will use a back up to catch for someone else. Jason, as long as he does it consistently, can catch for Timmy. The only problem, then, is that Jason doesn't get to call the game for another guy. Terry could always put the back up in for Schill, since he's the veteran.

I'm confused about what the way he dresses like has anything to do with it.

Also, who do we put in left field?

And what would you do if Theo came back, in one role or another. Seek the Globe site and ye shall find.
